Lieutenant Thomas Fitzpatrick Cooke

 

 

Thomas Fitzpatrick Cooke, of Caw House, Londonderry, was born on 11 November 1860, a son of Joseph Cooke and Frances Cooke (nee Walker).

He was educated at Foyle College and Collegiate School, Edinburgh; was Deputy-Lieutenant for Co. Londonderry; Master of the Derry Hunt since 1896; a member of the Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners from 1896, Chairman 1905-08; a Life Governor of the Gynn and Young Endowment Trust; owner of George McFarland & Co, Chairman of Messrs John Christys Ltd, and Director for Life of Messrs Biggers Ltd.

Cooke was commissioned as a lieutenant on 1 April 1904 and joined the North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry. He joined the North Irish Horse on its formation on 8 July 1908 and served with the regiment until 1912.

He died on 2 February 1926.
